Okechukwu Ezugwu, fondly known as Okey, is the CEO of OakFil Productions, a Lagos-based film production company. With over 28 years of active participation in the Nigerian film industry, Okey has become a household name, celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Nollywood.

or to introduce him to the business of filmmaking. After days of introspection,
Okey chose to embark on the path of filmmaking, stepping into the uncharted
waters of Nigeria’s then-emerging film industry.
In 1997, Okey joined Kenneth Okonkwo in
Lagos, where Kenneth mentored him on the rudiments of the industry. Between 2001

cementing his reputation as a prolific filmmaker. His 2024 film OJOCHE
was selected for screening at the 13th edition of the African International
Film Festival (AFRIFF) in November 2024.

returned to academics, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s
degree in Political Science from the University of Nigeria,
Nsukka.
