Hon. Ezenta Ezeani, a member representing Igbo Etiti West, has been elected as the deputy speaker of the 8th Enugu State House of Assembly. The member was elected alongside Hon, Uche Ugwu from Udi North, who was elected speaker.
Although the Labour Party had the majority in the house, the minority People’s Democratic Party (PDP) produced both the speaker and the Deputy Speaker.
In a related development, Hon. Malachy Okechi, representing Nsukka West, has emerged as the House Leader of the 8th Assembly.
Ezenta Ezeani is a prince of the Ekwegbe kingdom and a third-term member of the house, while Malachy Okechi is a first-term member of the Labour Party and hails from Obimo in Nsukka Local Government.
